Mike Brackney 66, of Weir, KS died Wednesday November 23, 2011 at
Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following an illness.
Mike was born March 3, 1945 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Robert T. and
Eugenia F. (Griffin) Brackney. He was a lifelong resident of Weir, KS
and a graduate of Southeast High School. On July 4, 1994 he married
Geraldine Lawrence in Weir, KS; she survives at the home. Mike
worked as a Boilermaker all his life and was a member of Local Union
#27 St. Louis, MO. He was a member of the Methodist Church; was
known as an avid hunter, antique car collector and loved his family and
friends.
Survivors include his wife; children Tammy Hallam and husband Terry
of Scammon, KS, Robin Lewis and husband Gene of Quapaw, OK, Jim
Jackson of Pittsburg, KS, Andy Brackney of Tallahassee, FL and Vince
Brackney of Joplin, MO; sister Lana Alexander and husband Milt of
Weir, KS; grandchildren Tyson Hallam, Shelby Lewis, Chandler Jackson
and Sailor Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 11am Saturday November 26, 2011 at the Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS with Aaron Williams officiating. Burial
will follow at Hosey Hil lCemetery in Weir, KS. Family will receive friends
from 7-8pm Friday November 25, 2011 at the funeral home; friends
may call after 2pm Friday. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions
of sympathy be in the form of memorials to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
