Obituaries
Lorine M. Blessant 83, of Pittsburg , KS died 2:45pm Sunday May 1,
2011 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg , KS following a long illness.  

Lorine was born September 17, 1927 in Ringo , KS the daughter of
William and Adela (Battitori) Hartog.  She was a lifelong resident of the
area and attended area schools in Girard , KS and Ringo , KS .  On
August 12, 1950 Lorine married Raymond Charles Blessant; he
preceded her in death on January 15, 1999 .  Lorine worked at Caskey
Motor Company in Pittsburg , KS and Montgomery Ward as a service
clerk.  After raising her children she began working as a Secretary for
Carnie Smith the Athletic Director and later the Pittsburg State University
Biology Department for over 20 years retiring in 1989.  She loved to
work with the students and was known as Mrs. B.  She also belonged to
the Retired Civil Service Club in Pittsburg , KS and family was the most
important thing in her life.   

Survivors include children Diane Letner and husband AL of Pittsburg,
KS, Carolyn Balizabeh and husband Khosro of Pocoima, CA and Gary
Ray Blessant and wife Chris of Wichita, KS; sister Mary Jane Cavanaugh
and husband A.J. of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Amy Ribeau, Sheerin
Balizadeh, Shahla Balizadeh, Shahin Balizadeh, Shahna Balizadeh, Josh
Letner and wife Jennifer and Ian Letner; and 4 great-grandchildren Sara
Ribeau, Edwin Ribeau, Kaleigh Balizadeh and Summer Layden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.  

Funeral Services will be 10am Thursday May 5, 2011 at the Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home in Pittsburg , KS with Rev. James Fellers officiating.  
Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg , KS .  Family will
receive friends from 7-8pm Wednesday May 4, 2011 at the Funeral
Home; friends may call after 12pm on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers the
family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the
Pittsburg State University Biology Department.  Friends may drop off or
mail memorials t to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway
