Ralph was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Atchison, Kan., to Ralph E. and Julia
(Miller) Bartley. He attended and graduated from Hayden High School
with the class of 1953. He later attended Washburn University for one
year.
On October 14, 1972 in Pittsburg, Kan., he married Mary M. Gustin. She
preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 2010.
Ralph worked for Frito Construction for 10 years as a Field Engineer and
later Vice President. He worked for Beachner Construction for 15 years
as an Estimator and Field Engineer. He later was the co-owner/co-
operator of the Dairy Queen Stores in Pittsburg, KS.
Ralph was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac,
Kan. He was also past Kansas President of Dairy Queen Operators
Association. He was the DMA chairperson for 10-plus years. He later
attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg.
Survivors include daughters Dawn Sitz and husband Jeff of Carbondale,
Kan., and Amy Bartley of Pittsburg; sons Ryan Bartley of Sarasota, Fla.,
and Ralph E. Bartley III and wife Kim of Bella Vista, Ark.; brothers Charles
Bartley of Topeka, Kan., and William Bartley and wife Faye of Normal, Ill;
sisters Barbara Schaffer and husband Bob and Francis Roberts and
husband Richard, all of Topeka, Kan.; along with eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Joshua Sitz.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Our
Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, Kan., with Fr. Thomas
Stroot officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in
Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Monday at Bath-
Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, where a rosary will be

The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials
