Obituaries
Kathryn M. “Kay” Arthur, 78 of Girard, KS passed away Friday, August
26, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born on October 7, 1932 in Cottenwood, OK, the daughter of
Attiglio M. and Angelina Cantelli Bettega. She attended St. Mary’s grade
school and graduated from St. Mary’s in 1950 as the classes
Valedictorian.
She married John Arthur March 9, 1968 in Calpaldo, KS. He
survives. Kathryn worked at The First State Bank and Trust of Pittsburg
as a customer service operator for over 40 years. She was a member of
St Michael’s Catholic Church in Girard. She also spent her time
volunteering at the Via Christi Hospital as a Pink Lady working at the Gift
Shop. She was a member of St. Michael’s Altar Society. She was a
member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Frontenac and St.
Michael’s Adoration Chapel. Kathryn also spent much of time
volunteering for the SEK Humane Society.
Survivors include her husband John of the home. Step-daughter
Cindy Jones and husband Jerry of Hot Springs Village, AR, and a Step-
son, Johnie Arthur of Pittsburg. 1 Sister Maxine Grisolano and husband
Jack of rural Pittsburg. 3 Step-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild
and 1 step-great-great grandchild. And many nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 29, 2011 at
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Father Roger Lumbre
officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg.
Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Sunday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with
the Rosary being recited at 7 P.M. Condolences can be sent to www.
