Obituaries
Charles L. Amos, 85, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 . He
was born to Marion (Pete) Amos and Minnie Amos on March 9, 1926. He
grew up in Columbus, graduating from Columbus High School in 1944.  

Following graduation, he joined the Air Corps. In 1946 he attended
Kansas State College in Manhattan and later received his Bachelor of
Music degree from the University of New Mexico, then taught music in
several schools.

He later worked for the State of Kansas as a Savings and Loan
Examiner, then became Branch Manager for the Columbus Anchor
Savings and Loan and retired as Assistant Vice President for the
company in 1988.  After retirement, he was able to continue his love of
music by playing the organ at many local churches.  

Charles was preceded in death by both his parents and three sisters,
Marjory Brown, Francis Laughlin, and Helen Diacon. He is survived by his
wife of 64 years, Dorothy, and five children: Charlene Meyer and
husband Fred; Don Amos, David Amos and wife Teresa, Kay Hobart and
husband Aaron, and Larry Amos. He has 6 grandchildren: Matthew
Meyer, Tammy Orr, Jaclyn Vess, Jana McVay, Brian Parks, and Micheal
Amos; and 6 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sister Joan
Holland and his brother Gene Amos.

At his request, he will be cremated and the family will have a private
celebration of life at a later date.  Arrangements are by Bath-Naylor
Funeral Home of Columbus, KS.
